The validity of the International Classification of Diseases-10 category of acute and transient psychotic disorders is debatable, say researchers who found that around half of patients moved to a different category within a few years.
In an effort to hasten the research on identifying antiviral drugs for SARS-CoV-2 infection, researchers from the U.S. and Switzerland performed extensive drug screening for antiviral activity using live virus infection in human respiratory cells. As a result, they identified a set of possible drug candidates that could potentially be tested in clinical trials.
With the finding that fever is produced by the action of a hormone on a specific site in the brain, scientists have answered a key question as to how this adaptive function helps to protect the body during bacterial infection and other types of illness.
Current research indicates that at some point in their life up to 84% of people will be exposed to some form of traumatic event. Although effective post-traumatic stress disorder treatments have been - and continue to be - developed, there remains a lack in relevant research pertaining to the prevention of PTSD.
