The anopheline mosquitoes that carry malaria were present 100 million years ago, new research shows, potentially shedding fresh light on the history of a disease that continues to kill more than 400,000 people annually.
The third edition of Infusion Nursing: An Evidence-Based Approach, published by the Infusion Nurses Society (INS), includes Totect(®), the only FDA-approved treatment for anthracycline extravasation. Anthracyclines are a group of chemotherapy medications including daunorubicin, doxorubicin, idarubicin and epirubicin that have been used in the treatment of various types of cancer since the early 1970s.
Ablative Solutions, Inc., a privately-held clinical stage company, announced today that it has received 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its Peregrine System(TM) Infusion Catheter.
When it comes to packaged fish or meat, it is nearly impossible to distinguish between fresh goods and their inedible counterparts. Researchers have now developed a sensor film that can be integrated into the package itself, where it takes over the role of quality control. And if the food has spoiled, it changes color to announce the fact.
Using a simple form to help focus their attention can help physicians increase the quality and accuracy of clinical breast examinations, increasing the likelihood of detecting cancers missed by mammograms. That's the finding of a new study coming out in the April 1st issue of The American Journal of Medicine.
