Exercise both reduces the risk of a heart attack and protects the heart from injury if a heart attack does occur. For years, doctors have been trying to dissect how this second benefit of exercise works, with the aim of finding ways to protect the heart after a heart attack.
A new study shows that combining a technology called optical tomography with standard ultrasound imaging can help distinguish early-stage breast cancer from non-cancerous lesions-and potentially reduce the number of breast biopsies performed. The study appears in the October issue of the journal Radiology.
There have been numerous studies on the safety and efficacy of using vitamin E to treat nondiabetic patients with nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), but researchers at the annual meeting of the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases presented results of vitamin E in diabetic and nondiabetic patients.
The dose of contrast material can be effectively reduced by at least 10% for elderly patients undergoing a multi-detector CT examination of the pancreas and biliary region a new study finds.
