The New Zealand Ministry of Health followed an internationally accepted process for licensing the MeNZB vaccine.
"In a study certain to rekindle debate over life-sustaining care for those with grievous brain injuries, researchers report that five patients thought to be in a persistent vegetative state showed brain activity indicating awareness, intent and, in at least one case, a wish to communicate," The Los Angeles Times reports.
Pediatric researchers who tested newborn animals with an existing human drug used in adults with diabetes report that this drug, when given very early in life, prevents diabetes from developing in adult animals. If this finding can be repeated in humans, it may become a way to prevent at-risk infants from developing type 2 diabetes.
It's already for the fourth time, that Prof. Dr. K. Lenhard Rudolph, scientific director of the Leibniz Institute for Age Research - Fritz Lipmann Institute (FLI) calls the scientific elite of international stem cell researchers to join at Else Kröner Fresenius (EKF) Symposium on Adult Stem Cells in Aging, Diseases and Cancer.
"Kenyans marked the World Mental Health Day Monday with a pledge to increase public investments in the treatment of mental illnesses, which affects at least 10 million people in the East African nation," Afrique en ligne reports, adding, "Kenya's Medical Services Minister Anyang Nyong'o said estimates show that at least one in every four Kenyans suffer from one form of mental-health related ailment."
