Helicos BioSciences Corporation today announced the completion of the sale of a Helicos® Single Molecule System to the St. Laurent Institute (SLI). The installation of the system is expected to be completed in early February.
Researchers have developed a novel, easy-to-use system for three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction and examination of tissues at microscopic resolution, with the potential to significantly enhance the study of normal and disease processes, particularly those involving structural changes. The new approach, using conventional histopathological methods, is described in the May issue of The American Journal of Pathology.
African American men who live in southern states are at significantly higher risk of dying from stroke than African American men living elsewhere, researchers reported at the American Stroke Association's International Stroke Conference 2005.
Chemotherapy has long been standard treatment for many cancers, but its clinical benefits can also come with well-documented side effects. Doctors say the challenge is knowing which patients will experience these side effects, and to what extent.
