mdBriefCase Inc., in collaboration with the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) and the Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology of Canada (SOGC), is pleased to provide a new online education course on the H1N1 virus in pregnant women.
The Mississippi Institute of Geographic and Minority Health (MIGMH) at the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) has been awarded a three-year, $2.1 million grant to operate a regional educational center for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to teach interventions that prevent the spread of sexually transmitted diseases and HIV.
When it comes to some diseases prevention still is better than cure and swine flu is one such disease. The sheer global panic that gripped nations last year is hard to forget. The PanvaxH1N1 vaccine is specifically manufactured to target the influenza (A) H1N1 strain known more popularly as swine flu. Getting the flu shots may be crucial in prevention of spread of the highly contagious disease. Health officials say that the H1N1 strain of flu is still circulating but at low levels.
Recommendations for improving clinical cognitive testing were reported by the American Academy of Neurology's Behavioral Neurology Section Group, led by Kirk R. Daffner, MD, of Boston, Mass. The Group focused on the Neurobehavioral Status Exam (NBSE), conducting evidence-based reviews of testing used for five domains - attention, language, memory, spatial cognition, and executive function).
Significant funding from NIBIB has enabled researchers to develop a unique technology to help physicians perform ultrasound-guided procedures involving needle placement such as needle biopsies, central line insertion, and local anesthesia.
