MedAptus®, the market leader in charge capture technologies, announced today that it has been awarded U.S. patent number 7,685,002 entitled "Method and System for Processing Medical Billing Records." The patent pertains to MedAptus' automated process for completely and accurately capturing both professional and facility charges in outpatient settings.
Health Media Network (HMN) announced plans to expand its point-of-care digital signage network into major U.S. markets, including Detroit, Miami, St. Louis, Los Angeles and Chicago. The move signals the growing demand for HMN's services by healthcare providers and advertisers. Installations in Miami, Detroit, and St. Louis were recently completed. UC Davis biomedical engineer Prof. Alexander Revzin has developed a "lab on a chip" device for HIV testing. Revzin's microfluidic device uses antibodies to "capture" white blood cells called T cells that are affected by HIV. In addition to physically binding these cells the test detects the types and levels of inflammatory proteins (cytokines) released by the cells.
