Saladax Biomedical, Inc. announced today that it has achieved ISO 13485:2003 certification for the design, manufacture and distribution of in vitro diagnostic medical devices in the area of clinical chemistry. Saladax's Bethlehem, PA facility was certified after a comprehensive audit of the Company's quality systems was conducted by KEMA, an internationally recognized standards registrar.

Zogenix, Inc., a privately held pharmaceutical company, announced today that it has closed a $35 million second tranche of a Series B preferred stock financing. The Series B round was increased from $51 million, previously announced in September, to $71 million. The additional $20 million investment was made by Chicago Growth Partners, which will now be represented on the Zogenix Board of Directors by Dr. Arda Minocherhomjee.
Three Florida HMOs have said they will continue participating in a "Medicaid Reform" plan after the Agency for Health Care Administration agreed to reduce payments by an average of 3% on Sept. 1, instead of 5% as previously announced, Florida Health News reports (Florida Health News, 9/2).
