The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA) today awarded a contract to develop an antibiotic that could be used against possibly two types of bioterrorism as well as common infections that are becoming resistant to antibiotics.
GOP presidential hopeful Herman Cain is scheduled today to give a Capitol Hill speech that is expected to focus on his health care policies and positions. Also in the news, a Washington Post fact-check examines claims by Mitt Romney, another GOP candidate, regarding health care subsidies.
"Building on the resistance of elite athletes to promoting alcohol and junk food could transform the use of sport in sponsorship and advertising," said Dr Anne Grunseit from the School of Public Health at the University of Sydney.
Researchers from Mount Sinai School of Medicine have identified reliable predictors of pain by surveying patients throughout their hospital stays about the severity of their pain and their levels of satisfaction with how their pain was managed by hospital staff.
