Twenty million medical scans and treatments are done each year that require radioactive isotopes and scientists today described a global shortage of these life-saving materials that could jeopardize patient care and drive-up health care costs.
Early on in the pandemic, it was thought that the virus was only spread via respiratory droplets. However, scientific research soon showed it also to be an airborne virus. Now, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has updated its guideline, acknowledging that the virus can hang in the air, fueling its spread.
A regulatory bias against taking oral anti-cancer medications with food places many patients at increased risk for an overdose and forces them to "flush costly medicines down the toilet," argues Mark Ratain, MD, an authority on cancer-drug dosing.

The Elders Living at Home Program (ELAHP) at Boston Medical Center has received a three-year, $864,400 Aging in Place Grant from the Administration on Aging (AoA). The grant will be used to develop, implement and evaluate an intervention to support formerly homeless elders who have already transitioned to housing but need support to maintain it.
