In 2016, funded by a $16 million grant from Scythian, the multidisciplinary Miller School team embarked on a five-year study to examine the effects of combining CBD (a cannabinoid derivative of hemp) with an NMDA antagonist (an anesthetic used in animals and humans) for the treatment of traumatic brain injury and concussion.
Ordinary over the counter painkillers and anti-inflammatory drugs purchased from pharmacies may also be effective in the treatment of people suffering of depression.
A new study published today in PLoS Medicine suggests that antidepressants only benefit some, very severely depressed patients.
Abortion providers filed suit Wednesday to block new state regulations that limit the use of the most common abortion drugs. Meanwhile, two more Texas abortion clinics are closed as a result of that state's restrictions, bringing total closures to 12.
