Onconova Therapeutics, Inc. today announced positive human safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetic data from three clinical trials of Ex-RAD (recilisib sodium, ON 01210.Na), a novel radioprotectant being developed as a medical countermeasure for the treatment of acute radiation syndrome (ARS).
A new study found raised levels of transforming growth factor beta-induced protein (TGFBIp) in blood sampled from roughly 100 people hospitalized for COVID-19, and further found that elevated levels of both the normal and acetylated forms of TGFBIp correlated with the severity of disease symptoms in these patients.
A team of researchers in Poland who treated three of six paraplegics with spinal cord injury using transplanted olfactory ensheathing cells found that the three treated patients showed neurological improvement and no adverse effects while the three control patients who did not receive transplants saw no improvement.
