Hawaii Pacific Health has joined the Premier healthcare alliance's PACT (Partnership for Care Transformation) collaborative to build the necessary capabilities that are required under the final Medicare shared savings rule.
The first in a planned series of new radiotherapy centers aimed at improving access to advanced treatments for millions of Indian cancer patients has been officially opened in Noida. Fortis International Oncology Centre, a joint initiative between International Oncology and Fortis Healthcare, is equipped with advanced radiotherapy equipment and software from Varian Medical Systems.
Although national guidelines advise doctors to discuss the benefits and harms of lung cancer screening with high-risk patients because of a high rate of false positives and other factors, those conversations aren't happening the way they should be, according to a study by researchers from the University of North Carolina Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center.
While nurses may lose their jobs to make the figures for the NHS seem more efficient there is a good chance of it affecting actual performance. The NHS needs to save £20bn by 2014. That would be a saving of 5% of its budget. The easiest way to do this would be by enforcing job cuts of health staff and thousands of nursing jobs are at risk as per the Royal College of Nursing general secretary, Peter Carter.
