Dual inhibition of vascular endothelial growth factor and c-MET signaling inhibited tumor invasion and metastasis in a laboratory model of pancreatic neuroendocrine cancer, according to a paper published in Cancer Discovery, the newest journal of the American Association for Cancer Research.
RXi Pharmaceuticals Corporation, a biopharmaceutical company pursuing the development and commercialization of proprietary therapeutics based on RNA interference, announced today that it has obtained commitments from several investors to purchase 2.7 million shares of its common stock at $6.00 per share and warrants to purchase 540,000 shares of its common stock for gross proceeds of $16.2 million.
Shops may soon be barred from selling energy drinks to children as the UK government gears up to tighten the efforts to curb childhood obesity. Several other proposals have been made to achieve these goals. These include labeling of the calories on the menus, reducing advertising junk foods, stopping free deals on high calorie foods, reduce placement of high calorie foods near store entrances, checkouts and aisles etc.
The Center for Health and Social Research (CHSR) at Buffalo State College has received a $3 million grant from the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) to study the initiation and continuation of drinking and driving behavior.
Despite similar rates of enrollment into medical care, youth with HIV have much lower rates of viral suppression-reducing HIV to undetectable levels-compared to adults, according to an analysis funded by the National Institutes of Health.
