The new Jefferson Vascular Center at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital offers an integrated, multidisciplinary approach to the diagnosis, management and treatment of vascular diseases (diseases of blood vessels) and thrombotic (blood-clotting) disorders all under one roof.
In a 10-year study of more than a thousand kidney failure patients, sudden cardiac death emerged as the number one cause of death for patients on dialysis, according to a Johns Hopkins researcher. The study, already published online and appearing in the Nov. 2 issue of Kidney International, identified systemic inflammatory response and malnutrition as key risk factors for the fatal heart attacks.
The protection provided by the smoking ban decreases when people can still smoke outside the venue
Even caregivers whose children receive the first dose of influenza vaccine may be vaccine hesitant and have inaccurate beliefs regarding influenza vaccine and disease, according to a new American Academy of Pediatrics Pediatric Research in Office Settings study that was a collaboration between investigators at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, Columbia University Irving Medical Center, and the AAP.
