Research carried out by NIHR Collaboration for Leadership in Applied Health Research and Care (CLAHRC) Wessex has found that hospital nurses who work longer than 12 hour shifts have a higher risk of wanting to leave their job, are more dissatisfied and more likely to burnout in terms of emotional exhaustion.

Lefthandedness genes change the way the brain develops

A new study has discovered four genes related to left-handedness, and the associated differences in the way the brain is organized. About a tenth of people are left-handed, making this a not uncommon trait. However, the new findings point to greater verbal fluency with this alternate version of the brain, compared to right-handedness.

Montreal Heart Institute and Cerenis commence CER-001 Phase 2 study in acute coronary syndrome

The Montreal Heart Institute today announced the start of the Phase 2 CHI-SQUARE (Can HDL Infusions Significantly QUicken Atherosclerosis REgression?) study of CER-001 in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS), in collaboration with Cerenis Therapeutics, a biopharmaceutical company developing novel high-density lipoprotein (HDL) therapies to treat cardiovascular and metabolic diseases.
