GOP plans to attend health summit as Obama calls for compromise

President Barack Obama warned during the weekend that both Republicans and Democrats should be careful not to turn this week's health care summit into "political theater" but to work to find "common ground" on the issues, The Washington Post reports. Stents for blocked brain arteries may not be as successful in prolonging survival as believed: Study

A study out this Wednesday says that insertion of an artery-opening device called a stent into the brain to improve blood flow to prevent a second stroke may do more harm than managing high-risk patients with drugs and lifestyle changes. Blocked brain arteries caused by the build-up of fatty deposits called plaque account for more than 50,000 of the 795,000 strokes occurring in the United States each year. Stroke is the fourth-leading cause of death and a leading cause of disability in the United States.

Peer-reviewed paper on power of iridoids in Tahitian Noni Bioactives published in Wiley Online Library

Tahitian Noni International's Brett West, director of noni benefits research, and his team have recently published another peer-reviewed paper on the power of iridoids in Tahitian Noni® Bioactives™. The paper, published just this month in the Wiley Online Library, concludes that iridoids are the major source of bioactivity in Tahitian Noni Bioactives, and that substantial iridoids can be found in the noni fruit, leaf, root, seed, and flower of noni plants.

Elevated plasma ACE2 activity persists months after SARS-CoV-2 infection

Recently, researchers from the University of Melbourne and Immune Therapies Group, Burnet Institute, Melbourne, reported that downregulation of cardiac ACE2 is linked to increased plasma ACE2 activity. This study is summarized in a preprint paper published in medRxiv.
