Last week was marked by a flurry of state-level activity related to the health law's insurance exchanges: News outlets run down which states have decided to develop their own marketplaces and which will defer to the federal government. Public "report cards" on outcomes for patients who have undergone percutaneous coronary intervention were originally developed to increase transparency and improve care, but studies have shown that these reports may inadvertently discourage physicians from offering this lifesaving treatment to patients at high risk for poor outcomes.
New research has shown that taller women could be more prone to suffering from cancer. The British study published online in the medical journal The Lancet on Thursday said cancer risk rose about 16% for every 4-inch rise in height. Increasing height heightened the chances of cancers of breast, ovary, womb, bowel, leukemia and malignant melanoma (skin cancer) the study found.
In recent news 12 women had been infected with the Hepatitis C virus allegedly from an anaesthetist Dr James Latham Peters, practising at an abortion clinic, Croydon Day Surgery. As the investigations continue the number of infected women has risen to 44.
