TeamHealth announces merger with Salutis Emergency Specialists operations

TeamHealth Holdings, one of the nation's largest providers of outsourced physician staffing solutions for hospitals, announced a merger with the operations of Salutis Emergency Specialists, PLLC. Based in Martinsburg, W. Va., Salutis Emergency Specialists manages and staffs the hospital emergency department for University Healthcare, Berkeley Medical Center (formerly City Hospital), which provides emergency care for approximately 54,000 patients annually.

Researchers discover role of GABA neurons in the central circadian clock

The research team led by Dr. Daisuke Ono and Prof. Akihiro Yamanaka of the Graduate School of Medicine, Nagoya University, collaborating with Prof. Ken-ichi Honma and Prof. Sato Honma of Hokkaido University Graduate School of Medicine, and Prof. Yuchio Yanagawa of Gunma University Graduate School of Medicine revealed that inhibitory neurons (GABAergic neurons) of the central circadian clock in the suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN) refine circadian output rhythms.

BioCryst receives $1.1 million in grants under QTDP program

BioCryst Pharmaceuticals, Inc. today announced that the Company had been awarded $1.1 million in grants under the U.S. Government's Qualifying Therapeutic Discovery Project (QTDP) program to advance the development of the Company's clinical programs for peramivir, BCX4208 and forodesine, as well as the pre-clinical BCX4161 kallikrein inhibitor and JAK inhibitor programs.
