Workplaces that reduce job strain could prevent up to 14 percent of new cases of common mental illness from occurring, according to new research led by the Black Dog Institute.
BioMimetic Therapeutics, Inc., today announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has tentatively scheduled an Orthopedic and Rehabilitation Devices Panel meeting on May 12, 2011 to review the Company's Premarket Approval (PMA) application for Augment™ Bone Graft for the treatment of foot and ankle fusions in the U.S.
Despite Speaker Nancy Pelosi's (D-Calif.) support of President Obama's pledge not to raise taxes on the middle class, the House of Representatives is now considering - outside of the normal legislative process - adopting provisions approved yesterday by the Senate Finance Committee that would drastically restrict the use of flexible spending accounts (FSAs) in order to help pay for health care reform.
Neon Therapeutics, a clinical-stage immuno-oncology company developing neoantigen-based therapeutics, today announced that it has treated the first patient in a clinical trial evaluating its proprietary personal neoantigen vaccine, NEO-PV-01, in combination with Merck's anti-PD-1 therapy, KEYTRUDA®, along with chemotherapy.
A new study suggests that Neanderthals across Europe may well have been infected with diseases carried out of Africa by waves of anatomically modern humans, or Homo sapiens. As both were species of hominin, it would have been easier for pathogens to jump populations, say researchers. This might have contributed to the demise of Neanderthals.
