NeoGenomics, Inc., a leading provider of cancer-focused genetic testing services, announced today that it has validated and launched a number of clinical molecular tests for the comprehensive profiling of myelodysplastic syndrome.
AMDL, Inc., developer and marketer of tests for the early detection of cancer and other serious diseases, announced today that it has filed with the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) for clearance to market its unique, proprietary DR-70 (FDP) ELISA tumor marker test for use as an aid in monitoring patients previously diagnosed with colorectal cancer. AMDL used the guidance provided at the meeting they had with the FDA on January 25, 2007.
Emerald BioStructures (formerly deCODE biostructures) announced today a publication in the December 27, 2009 advance online issue of Nature Biotechnology, detailing the application of structure-based drug design (SBDD) to engineer new allosteric small molecule modulators of the enzyme phosphodiesterase-4 (PDE4), with reduced side effects. According to the paper, the researchers established the structural basis of PDE4 regulation through crystal structures of the PDE4 regulatory domain in contact with small molecules.
New advancements in a radiation oncology treatment called IMRT (intensity modulated radiation therapy) are proving far superior to standard radiation procedures used today in safeguarding the healthy tissues surrounding cancerous tumors, and thus improving patient care.
That's the finding of chemists at Ohio State University, who have successfully tested such molecules against portions of HIV and Hepatitis C virus RNA in the laboratory. They've also created molecules that act like ACE, or angiotensin-converting enzyme, inhibitors - drugs that are used to lower blood pressure.
