Americans may be aging more slowly than they were two decades ago. A new study by University of Southern California and Yale University researchers suggests that at least part of the gains in life expectancy over recent decades may be due to a change in the rate of biological aging, rather than simply keeping ailing people alive.
New research reveals that depressive symptoms, stress, anxiety, and anger and lack of social support in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) were linked to atherosclerosis-a build-up of fatty deposits in the arteries that contributes to cardiovascular disease. The study published in Arthritis Care & Research, a journal of the American College of Rheumatology, suggests that screening and treatment of psychosocial symptoms may curb the cardiovascular disease burden in RA patients.
ME (Myalgic Encephalopathy), also known as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), can be a debilitating disease. It frequently presents after an infection, and key features are long-lasting fatigue and worsening of symptoms after exertion.
People who misuse prescription pain relievers all have one thing in common, University of Georgia researchers have discovered: a history of recent illicit drug use. How they acquire such drugs varies according to age, however.
Researchers at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences (SMHS) found that outpatient emergency department encounters could reimburse considerably more after implementation of the insurance coverage expansions of the Affordable Care Act (ACA).
