InnaVirVax announces Phase I/IIa clinical trial authorization for its VAC-3S HIV vaccine

InnaVirVax, a biopharmaceutical company dedicated to the development of therapeutic and diagnostic solutions in pathologies associated with immune dysregulation, declared today that it has obtained authorization from the French drug agency (AFSSAPS) to start a Phase I/IIa clinical study of its therapeutic vaccine VAC-3S for the treatment of HIV infections. This authorization intervenes only two years and half after the launching of InnaVirVax's activities.

HZI researchers explore novel therapies to keep the immune system young and functional for healthy aging

By comparing the immune responses of both, young and old mice, to bacterial infection they found that the number of macrophages, one of the major cell populations involved in the elimination of infecting bacteria, decreases rapidly in aged mice. This decline in the number of fighters and the associated weakness of the immune defense may be responsible for the age-associated increase in susceptibility to infections.

Role of race and health insurance status in breast cancer diagnosis and treatment

Researchers at The GW Cancer Institute, with funding from the National Cancer Institute, examined the effect of race and health insurance status on diagnostic and treatment delays over a 5-year period, with initial screenings going back 12 years, and found that race may play a larger role than previously thought when it comes to optimal diagnosis and treatment of black women with breast cancer.
