NIH awards Titan $7.6M grant for Probuphine clinical development

Titan Pharmaceuticals, Inc today announced that the National Institutes of Health (NIH) has awarded a Research and Research Infrastructure Grand Opportunities grant to the company through the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act of 2009 (ARRA). The two year grant for Probuphine clinical development is expected to provide approximately $7.6 million, with the first year award of approximately $ 5.6 million now made available to Titan by the NIH.

The research group of Professor Thomas Jentsch (Leibniz Institute for Molecular Pharmacology, FMP/ Max Delbr-ck Center for Molecular Medicine, MDC, Berlin-Buch) has now succeeded in identifying an essential cellular process necessary for the transport and degradation of macromolecules in endosomes and lysosomes, respectively.

Taxotere shows significant survival benefit in the treatment of advanced gastric cancer

Final results from the largest international study in the treatment of advanced stomach cancer, also known as gastric cancer, demonstrated that patients who received a Taxotere (docetaxel) Injection Concentrate-based chemotherapy regimen (Taxotere, cisplatin and 5-fluorouracil) had significantly improved overall survival rates compared to patients who received a standard treatment (cisplatin and 5- fluorouracil).
