CardioTech receives approval for a second graft size for CardioPass clinical trial

CardioTech International, Inc., a developer and manufacturer of advanced medical devices and materials for the treatment of a broad range of disease states, today announced that it has received the necessary Ministry of Health approval to add a 4mm graft for the clinical trial of CardioPass , the Company's proprietary synthetic coronary bypass graft. "Knowledge deficit" about methadone responsible for resulting deaths

In a unique and comprehensive literature review of poisoning deaths involving opioids from 1999 - 2009, the deaths involving methadone were found to be disproportionately high. Methadone represented less than five percent of all opioid prescriptions but is responsible for a third of the deaths. After four years of investigation, the major underlying cause was found to be fundamental misunderstandings about the properties of the medicine - a "knowledge deficit" - especially when converting patients from other opioids.

Clopidogrel added to aspirin and rvaroxaban shows no additional benefit for peripheral artery disease

The results of VOYAGER PAD found that people with peripheral artery disease (PAD) who took the blood thinner rivaroxaban with aspirin after undergoing lower extremity revascularization-a procedure to treat blocked arteries in the leg-had a significant reduction in the risk of major adverse limb and cardiovascular events when compared with those receiving aspirin alone.
