Researchers at the University of Cincinnati have found that the race and sex of study personnel can influence a patient's decision on whether or not to participate in clinical research.
Allegro Diagnostics today announced that results from its AEGIS (Airway Epithelium Gene Expression In the Diagnosis of Lung Cancer) clinical trials, to determine the accuracy of the BronchoGen genomic test, have been accepted for an oral presentation during the late-breaking abstract session at CHEST 2012 on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at 4:30 p.m. The abstract will also be published in a supplement of the October 2012 issue of CHEST.
Douglas A. Mitchell, IGB faculty member in the Mining Microbial Genomes for Novel Antibiotics research theme and assistant professor in the Department of Chemistry, is a recipient of the 2011 National Institutes of Health Director's New Innovator Award. The award recognizes bold ideas from some of the nation's most promising new scientists.
The benefits of using insulin to treat diabetes far outweigh the risks, but a review just published online by IJCP, the International Journal of Clinical Practice, suggests that commonly used diabetes therapies may differ from each other when it comes to their influence on cancer risk.
