B. Braun initiates voluntary recall of heparin injection products

B. Braun Medical Inc. was recently notified by its supplier, Scientific Protein Laboratories LLC (SPL), of a nationwide recall of a lot of Heparin Sodium USP Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) sold to B. Braun because additional testing of retained crude heparin samples used by SPL to manufacture this single API lot indicated a trace amount of oversulfated chondroitin sulfate (OSCS) contaminant.

Psychiatric disorders common in adults who have had anorexia

Many adults who were diagnosed as teenagers to be suffering from anorexia nervosa cannot work due to psychiatric disorders. A follow-up 18 years after the onset of anorexia has shown that one in four are on disability benefit or have been signed off sick. In some cases, Medicare may cover ambulance transportation when the patient has End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD), need dialysis, and need ambulance transportation to or from a dialysis facility.
