Psychologists from the University of Birmingham are taking part in a project where they will experience how it feels to be weightless as part of their studies into how we use the sense of touch to help control and guide our movements.
It is estimated that more than 7,000 people are diagnosed with head and neck cancer each year in the UK and approximately 3,500 cases result in death. These cancers include tumours of the mouth, lips, throat and voice-box, and some have been linked to the sexually transmitted infection, HPV-16. Scientists at Liverpool analysed the DNA of more than 90 cancerous tissue samples to look for genes that indicated infection.
The reality of life in the operating room is about to look more like virtual reality, as leaders in clinical medicine at the University of Maryland, Baltimore and colleagues with expertise in computing and imaging at the University of Maryland, College Park work together on lifesaving technologies.
Onset Therapeutics, a specialty pharmaceutical company focused in dermatology, today announced positive results from a skin moisturization study that compared the Company's recently launched BenzEFoam™ (benzoyl peroxide 5.3%) Emollient Foam to a market leading combination gel containing clindamycin 1% - benzoyl peroxide 5%. BenzEFoam™ Emollient Foam is indicated for the topical treatment of mild to moderate acne vulgaris and is the first prescription foam formulation containing benzoyl peroxide as the active ingredient.
The brain is an adaptable and highly complex system. However, much remains to be known about the way in which individual components of the brain interact in order to produce cognitive performance.
