More than 80 Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy (REMS) plans have been approved by the Food & Drug Administration since their inception in March 2008. Now, pharmaceutical companies must formally assess and report on how well these plans have actually been working in reducing drug risks, a mandated step in the REMS process.
Tenet Healthcare Corporation today reported adjusted EBITDA of $281 million for the fourth quarter ended December 31, 2010, an increase of $63 million, or 28.9 percent, compared to $218 million for the fourth quarter of 2009. Net income attributable to common shareholders for the fourth quarter of 2010 was $74 million, or $0.14 per diluted share, compared to $21 million, or $0.04 per diluted share, for the fourth quarter of 2009.
Protamine - a natural protein with a proven safety record - may be useful in developing new types of disinfectant solutions for contact lenses, according to a study published in the November issue of Optometry and Vision Science, official journal of the American Academy of Optometry.
