Researchers at Mount Sinai School of Medicine have determined people who were vaccinated against the 2009 H1N1 influenza virus may also be protected against the lethal 1918 Spanish influenza virus, which killed more than 50 million people worldwide. The new findings are published in the current issue of Nature Communications.
Previous research studies have linked obesity to adverse outcomes and increased costs following total knee replacement surgery (TKR). A new, computer model-based evaluation appearing in the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, supports bariatric surgery in morbidly obese patients with end-stage osteoarthritis (loss of cartilage and joint pain, caused by aging and use) prior to TKR.
The Academy for Eating Disorders is proud to announce the release of the World Eating Disorders Healthcare Rights, an important document developed by the AED's Patient/Carer Committee in an effort to promote excellence in eating disorders care by leveraging patient, carer, and professional partnerships.
The majority of pharmacists across the profession who were involved in a UK study reported the patient's health interests as the most important factor to consider in ethical decision making. They also indicated that regulation seems to play a very important part in moral decision making.
