Spanish researchers have developed a prototype of a vaccine against the AIDS-causing HIV virus that is "much more powerful" than those made to date.
A study by two Indiana University Bloomington professors in the School of Health, Physical Education and Recreation is beginning to suggest how people with severe and persistent mental illnesses live their everyday lives.
People are continuously exposed to a huge amount and variety of potentially toxic chemicals present in the surrounding environment, such as pesticides or drugs traces in water, soil, air and living organisms. The combined action of pollutants can increase the risk of toxic effects.
By all accounts the woman, in her late 60s, appeared to have severe dementia. She was largely incoherent. Her short-term memory was terrible. She couldn't focus on questions that medical professionals asked her.
The fast Fourier transform, one of the most important algorithms of the 20th century, revolutionized signal processing. The algorithm allowed computers to quickly perform Fourier transforms - fundamental operations that separate signals into their individual frequencies - leading to developments in audio and video engineering and digital data compression.
