The risk of developing breast cancer due to taking hormone replacement therapy appears to be the same for women with a family history of the disease and without a family history, a University of Rochester Medical Center study concluded.
BioDelivery Sciences International, Inc. announced that the primary efficacy endpoint in the Phase 3 clinical study of Clonidine Topical Gel compared to placebo for the treatment of painful diabetic neuropathy did not meet statistical significance, although certain secondary endpoints showed statistically significant improvement over placebo. In addition, a strong safety profile for the product was observed.
Most patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) that has metastasized to the brain have a dire prognosis. But Yale researchers have identified a subset of those patients with a rare genetic mutation who are living significantly longer than patients without the mutation.
New strategies are needed to fight malaria in countries with low prevalence, because "pockets of infection remain, mainly among men living or working outdoors," according to a paper published in The Lancet, BBC News reports.
