An independent group of 19 experts from around the globe, convened by the Harvard Global Health Institute and the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, has issued a hard-hitting analysis of the global response to the 2014-15 Ebola outbreak in West Africa, published in The Lancet.
Transcat, Inc., a leading distributor of professional grade handheld test and measurement instruments and accredited provider of calibration, repair and other measurement services, announced today that it has acquired the calibration services business from Newark, a subsidiary of Premier Farnell, PLC, and entered into a strategic alliance whereby Newark will market Transcat's calibration services to its broad customer base of electronic design engineers, maintenance, repair and operations engineers, and industrial buyers.
Intensive and early treatment of type 1 diabetes substantially lowers the risk of cardiovascular ailments such as heart disease and stroke, a new multicenter study shows.
The nerve cell-damaging plaque that builds up in the brain with Alzheimer's disease also builds up in the retinas of the eyes - and it shows up there earlier, leading to the prospect that noninvasive optical imaging of the eyes could lead to earlier diagnosis, intervention and monitoring of the disease, according to new research.
