Intellikine, a leader in the development of small molecule drugs targeting the PI3K/mTOR pathway, and the Multiple Myeloma Research Consortium (MMRC) today announced the initiation of a phase I trial of INK128, a novel, orally-available small molecule kinase inhibitor of the TORC1 and TORC2 complexes, in patients with multiple myeloma.
The foodborne bacteria Listeria monocytogenes sickens about 2,500 people in the U.S. each year and many more worldwide, killing about 25-30% of those infected. Listeriosis is caused by eating food contaminated with L. monocytogenes, and current methods for detecting the bacteria are costly and time consuming.
Research published in the journal Age and Ageing, which studied nursing homes in the Munster region of Ireland, has found that a significant proportion of older patients have either been prescribed a potentially inappropriate medicine or they are not prescribed a medicine that would normally be beneficial.
Weight and appetite experts from around the world met at a conference in Bangkok earlier this year to discuss sex differences in obesity.
