Leaders of the International AIDS Vaccine Initiative (IAVI) have stressed that as the world commits more resources to treat people infected with HIV, it must also intensify efforts to develop a vaccine to prevent new infections and stop the continuing spread of the virus.

A study in the March 2009 issue of Anesthesiology found that, in neurosurgical patients receiving postoperative intensive care, intensive insulin therapy - compared to conventional insulin therapy - leads to conflicting results: It increases the risk of hypoglycemic episodes, but reduces the incidence of postoperative infections and the length of stay in the intensive care unit.
A REPORT from University of Huddersfield experts has ensured that an ambitious Government scheme to help more people return to work from sick leave will include telephone support as a key component.
