A new study that appears in the April issue of the journal Pediatrics, published by the American Academy of Pediatrics, speaks of a "new phenomenon" known as "Facebook depression" in which children can become depressed when they compare such metrics as their number of "friends" and "status updates" to those of their peers.
Researchers at Helmholtz Zentrum München, Technical University of Munich (TUM) and the German Center for Infection Research have developed a novel therapeutic approach to cure chronic hepatitis B.
Amylin Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and Eli Lilly and Company announced today that the European Commission has granted marketing authorization to BYETTA (exenatide twice-daily) as an adjunctive therapy to basal insulin, with or without metformin and/or Actos (pioglitazone), for the treatment of type 2 diabetes in adults who have not achieved adequate glycemic control with these agents.
An investigation by German researchers headed by Professor Nickel which was published in the current issue of Psychotherapy and Psychosomatics indicates the practicing Zen meditation by psychotherapists matters. .
Researchers have been able to reconstruct the genome sequence of an outbreak strain of Shiga-toxigenic Escherichia coli using metagenomics (the direct sequencing of DNA extracted from microbiologically complex samples), according to a study in the April 10 issue of JAMA, a Genomics theme issue.
