A natural defence mechanism against heart disease could be switched on by steroids sold as health supplements, according to researchers at the University of Leeds.
Millions of people in the United States suffer from a medical condition that can unpredictably cause them to begin sweating as if they had just finished running a marathon.Hyperhidrosis, or excessive sweating, is a common disorder that first becomes noticeable during childhood or adolescence. People with hyperhidrosis could be doing something as leisurely as lying down or watching television and sweat will still soak their bodies.
AvMed Health Plans united with more than 100 community leaders this morning at the American Heart Association's Go Red For Women annual breakfast. As the main sponsor of the event, AvMed joined NBC 6 Anchor Jackie Nespral, South Miami Cardiologist Dr. Abbe Rosenbaum, National Go Red For Women Spokeswoman Gloria Boisvert, PRIMP Salon & Hair Extension Boutique's Jonathan Babicka and Palmetto General Hospital's Ana Mederos to raise awareness about heart disease among women.
Health costs per person in Minnesota rose only 2.6 percent in 2010, about half the national average. Key factors in controlling costs were innovations by Minnesota's health plans – for example, more effective management of care for those with chronic diseases – and reduced demand for health care in a slow economy.
Pittsburgh Technical Institute (PTI) announces initial approval of its Practical Nursing program by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing. At its Monday, September 28, 2009, meeting, the Nursing Board granted PTI permission to offer a 12-month certificate in Practical Nursing through the career college's School of Healthcare.
