The rapid increase of life-threatening antibiotic-resistant infections has resulted in challenging wound complications with limited choices of effective treatments. About 6 million people in the United States are affected by chronic wounds.
Magellan Health Services, Inc. today reported net revenue of $2.64 billion, net income of $106.7 million, or $3.01 per diluted common share, and segment profit of $227.2 million for the year ended December 31, 2009.
NPR's "News & Notes" on Tuesday included a discussion with Daniel Halperin, a senior research scientist in the Department of Population and International Health at the Harvard School of Public Health, about a recent study that recommended a shift in HIV prevention strategies in Africa toward the promotion of male circumcision and partner reduction programs.
Although college students had higher rates of yearly, monthly, and weekly alcohol use than their peers not attending college, they did not appear to be at a greater risk for alcohol dependence problems, according to an article in the March issue of Archives of General Psychiatry.
According to a new study there may be an explanation of why some military personnel exposed to blasts have symptoms of brain injury even though their CT and MRI scans look normal.
