Allos Therapeutics, Inc. today announced that abstracts from studies of FOLOTYN™ (pralatrexate injection) were accepted for presentation at the 51st Annual Meeting of the American Society of Hematology (ASH) to be held at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, La., from December 5-8, 2009.
In an article in Science, Noam Zelcer from the LACDR describes a previously unknown mechanism for regulating the amount of LDL cholesterol. This offers opportunities for supplementing and improving the effect of so-called statins: medicines that remove 'bad' cholesterol from the bloodstream.
Risk factor modification efforts could help reduce the chance of another heart attack and death among the more than 15 million Americans with coronary heart disease. Yet some patients-especially women and minorities-leave the hospital with poorly managed risk factors.
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) announced today that it plans to award about $75 million over five years to five clinical centers and a data coordinating center to conduct studies of islet transplantation in patients with type 1 diabetes.
