Researchers from North Carolina State University have found that a commonly used drug made from secondary bile acids can affect the life cycle of Clostridioides difficile (C. diff) in vitro and reduce the inflammatory response to C. diff in mice.
During the last few weeks of a woman's pregnancy, many keep an overnight bag ready to go at a moment's notice in case they begin to go into labor. They do this because there is no clear signal that labor is about to begin - before the body makes it abundantly clear that this process has started. Understanding the mechanisms that initiate this process is especially important when treating women at risk of going into labor early.
MedAptus(R), the market leader for charge capture technologies, today announced that Needham-based Beth Israel Deaconess HealthCare (BIDHC) has selected the company's Professional Intelligent Charge Capture technology for its hospitalist group. BIDHC, a network of primary care physicians, will roll-out the web-based version of MedAptus' Inpatient Edition for the timely and compliant capture of inpatient charges originating at three area hospitals.
The study by NCP examined the habits of 2,500 drivers using car park CCTV footage. It found that women were better at finding a space, aligning their vehicles to prepare to park, and were more centered when finally parked. They also note that when men drive with a female passenger they are more likely to "pose park" — in other words, try to impress his female companion — by choosing the smaller of two vacant spaces.
