On June 1, leaders of the health care industry reaffirmed their pledge to reform a health care system that is rife with inefficiencies, costs too much, and fails to deliver the quality of care Americans expect.
"The Obama administration is still hopeful it can get bipartisan support for a health insurance overhaul, White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said Wednesday," Dow Jones Newswires reports. Baxter International Inc. announced today that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved an Investigational Device Exemption (IDE) application for a Home Hemodialysis (HD) system in development through a collaboration between DEKA Research and Development Corp., HHD LLC, and Baxter.
Researchers led by a team at Massachusetts Eye and Ear have identified a novel cellular entry factor for adeno-associated virus vector (AAV) types-the most commonly used viral vectors for in vivo gene therapy. AAVs are vectors-or vehicles-that are created from a virus that is made harmless by molecular engineering, and have shown promise transporting genetic therapy treatments to affected tissues.
