AMERICAN COLLEGE OF SURGEONS 2009 Clinical Congress, October 11-15, 2009 - Trauma care in the United States is so fragmented, overwhelmed and underfunded that the survival and recovery of those who suffer major trauma often depends on where they happen to be when they are injured. That was the conclusion voiced today during a signature speech at the 2009 Clinical Congress of the American College of Surgeons in Chicago.
It combines a new way to deliver drugs, via a micro-needle patch, with drugs that are known to turn energy-storing white fat into energy-burning brown fat.
The International AIDS Vaccine Initiative (IAVI) announced today that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Ragon Institute to accelerate the development of new and promising AIDS vaccine candidates for testing.
Fenofibrate is the first and only widely available lipid modifying agent to demonstrate significant protection to the eye of patients with type 2 diabetes, reducing the need for laser therapy in a wide spectrum of patients which should decrease the risk of progressive loss of vision.
