In an important step to help combat the spread of HIV/AIDS in China, The People's Republic of China's Ministry of Health signed a groundbreaking framework agreement with Washington, D.C.-based Safe Blood International Foundation (Safe Blood International), an organization dedicated to providing a safe blood supply for developing countries to help them stop the spread of HIV/AIDS and other blood-borne diseases at the Ministry of Health in Beijing.
Helsinn, the Swiss Group focused on building quality cancer care, and BIAL - Portela & Ca. S.A., one of the largest Iberian pharmaceutical companies, today announce that they have entered into an agreement for the exclusive distribution and licence rights to Anamorelin in Spain, Portugal, Angola and Mozambique.
Swansea University researchers have been awarded more than £68,000 to investigate ways of reducing the risk of Type 1 diabetes patients developing potentially fatal hypoglycaemia (low blood glucose) during and after exercise.
A recent survey of hospitals has shown that the successful implementation of good hand washing practices in hospitals by nurses and doctors is effective in reducing the drug resistant superbugs. This comes after the introduction of a national program to boost hand hygiene compliance rates in hospitals by encouraging staff to use alcohol-based hand rubs before and after treating patients. To make it easier for hospital workers to clean their hands, alcohol-based hand rubs are being installed at the foot or near the head of every bed.
