The New York State Court of Appeals on Thursday voted 6-0 to uphold rulings by the New York Supreme Court and the Appellate Division to leave intact a state law that requires employers - including the Roman Catholic Church and other religious organizations - who offer prescription drug plans to provide coverage for FDA-approved contraceptives for women, the New York Times reports.
The results of the ACTA trial were presented at the 9th IAS Conference on HIV Science held in Paris from 23 to 26 July 2017. Professor Thomas Harrison and his colleagues at St George's University of London, the Institut Pasteur in Paris, Paris Descartes University (Hôpital Necker-Enfants Malades), the ANRS site in Cameroon, and the MRC sites in Malawi, Tanzania, and Zambia show in this trial that new therapeutic regimens are of benefit in HIV-infected patients with cryptococcal meningitis.
New guidelines proposed by a group of international experts will help better study the prevalence and geography of counterfeit and other poor quality medicines that threaten public health across the world.
The largest study yet of adult childhood cancer survivors found that the first cancer is just the beginning of a lifelong battle against different forms of the disease for about 10 percent of these survivors.
A number of studies claim that artificial intelligence (AI) does as well or better than doctors at interpreting images and diagnosing medical conditions. However, a recent study published in The BMJ in March 2020 reveals that most of this research is flawed, and the results exaggerated. The outcome could be that the decision to adopt AI as part of patient care is based upon faulty premises, compromising the quality of patient care for millions of people.
