Research assesses the overall efficacy of palliative chest RT in patients with advanced NSCLC

Research published in the February edition of the Journal of Thoracic Oncology sought to assess the overall efficacy of split-course palliative chest radiotherapy (RT) for symptom relief in patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer. Additionally, researchers investigated the impact the regimen's two-week break has on survival outcomes.

Low-dose diazepam with NS-398 combination has twice the neuroprotective effect of NS-398 alone

Status epilepticus, prolonged seizures, can lead to significant neurological deficits and, rarely, even death. The anticonvulsant diazepam, a first line therapy for the condition, is neuroprotective when administered in high doses within two hours from seizure onset. Researchers at the 64th AES Annual Meeting now report that the combination of low-dose diazepam and NS-398, a COX-2 inhibitor, has twice the neuroprotective effect of NS-398 alone.

New study finds nearly 50% of service members with obesity experience weight stigma

Weight discrimination is a major issue in our society and in the U.S. military, service members are not immune to it. According to a new study published Sept. 26 in the APA journal, Stigma and Health, nearly 50 percent of service members who are overweight or obese have experienced it.
