Relatives of a young person who dies suddenly should always be referred for cardiological and genetic examination in order to identify if they too are at risk of sudden death, a scientist told the annual conference of the European Society of Human Genetics today (Tuesday 26 May).
Edwards Lifesciences Corporation,the global leader in the science of heart valves and hemodynamic monitoring, today announced the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit affirmed a previous court decision in favor of Cook Inc. and W. L. Gore & Associates, finding the companies did not infringe Edwards' patents for modular or multi-part endovascular grafts for treatment of abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA).
Amplification of fibroblast growth factor receptor 1 is associated with poor clinical outcome in patients with early-stage non-small-cell lung cancer, Swiss researchers report.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration today approved Rituxan (rituximab) to treat certain patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), a slowly progressing blood and bone marrow cancer.
