Researchers have taken detailed images and measurements of the morphing structure of a brain protein thought to play a role in Parkinson's disease, information that could aid the development of medications to treat the condition.
The 4th edition of the Concise Guide to Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, written by Children's Memorial Hospital's psychiatrists, Mina Dulcan, MD, and Mary Beth Lake, MD., was published in July by American Psychiatric Publishing. Dulcan is department head of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Children's Memorial and professor at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.
Los Gatos Research (LGR), the leading innovator of cavity-enhanced laser-based instrumentation for analyses of gases and liquids, today announced a significant price reduction for its new greenhouse gas (GHG) analyzer designed to deliver the highest level of precision, accuracy, and stability available.
Researchers conducted a database search to investigate whether aspirin can aid in the prevention of intracranial aneurysm rupture by hindering aneurysm growth. The researchers identified 146 patients harboring multiple intracranial aneurysms, five millimeters or less in diameter, that had been observed for at least five years.
Lively, educational comic strips, geared to 8- to 10-year-old African-American girls, can help these young viewers make better food choices and improve their physical fitness. That's what happened in a preliminary study, reported several years ago, with 78 Internet-savvy African American girls age 8 to 10. Now, the program's creators hope to repeat the study in a larger test with 400 young volunteers and their parents. The scientists also want to develop a version targeted to Hispanic girls.
