In recent years, a growing and potentially life-threatening trend known as Robo tripping, the abuse of over-the-counter cough and cold medications, has emerged among America's youth. As the Society representing the front-line physicians responsible for treating patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) who have overdosed on over-the-counter medications, the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) has developed information to help parents recognize the signs of Robo tripping and to prevent overdose and longer-term health complications.
News outlets report that a split federal appeals court on Tuesday debated whether individuals buying health insurance in the federal marketplace should be eligible for tax subsidies, presenting a potentially serious legal challenge to a central part of President Barack Obama's health care law.
More than just strict hand hygiene practices are needed to control the spread of antibiotic-resistant bacteria, say researchers.
New data presented today at the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research 2010 Annual Meeting held in Toronto, Ontario, demonstrated that approximately half of Canadians with osteoporosis have insufficient levels of vitamin D (less than 80 nmol/L), despite the fact that more than 40 per cent are prescribed at least 2800 IU of vitamin D per week.
