According to a large worldwide study, the hormone that is produced in the body during exercise called irisin, can prevent and delay the onset of mental faculty decline and Alzheimer's disease. The results of the study were published in the latest issue of the journal Nature Medicine.
UNICEF and its partners "have stepped up vaccination campaigns in Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq and Turkey amid measles outbreaks in a region already struggling to provide humanitarian assistance to millions of people affected by ongoing conflict in Syria," the U.N. News Centre reports (4/30).
"For the first time researchers have discovered a link between overweight and obese mothers in sub-Saharan Africa and infant mortality," Jennifer James, founder of Mom Bloggers for Social Good, writes in this post in the Bill & Melinda Gate's "Impatient Optimists" blog.
