Researchers at St. Michael's Hospital are one step closer to understanding why plaque bursts in coronary arteries and causes heart attacks.
Today the GridTalk project launches its 8th GridBriefing at the Enabling Grids for E-sciencE (EGEE) conference in Barcelona. The report covers how information and communication technologies (ICTs), particularly computing grids, are used in the health and biomedical sectors of European research. EGEE has supported this research community since the project's birth and it is the second largest user group after physics research.
MacroMedics BV the innovation leader in patient fixation devices has signed a distribution contract with Xstrahl in the USA. Xstrahl have been successfully distributing MacroMedics in the UK for 3 years. This partnership has allowed radiotherapy centers across the UK to gain access to the innovative and versatile systems. Now Xstrahl will be offering these unique products to US hospitals.
A common drug used for preventing heart attacks and blood clots may also cause problems for individuals who suffer some form of trauma, particularly elderly patients, according to a study presented today at the 2009 Clinical Congress of the American College of Surgeons.
